2020 Clean Week and Orthodoxy Sunday

The first week of Lent is always one of the most solemn weeks of the year. It begins with the Rite of Forgiveness, where each of us lines up in the Church and personally asks forgiveness to each other, for whatever wrongs we have done, both voluntary and involuntary, throughout the year. From Monday to Thursday evening, the Church comes together to recite the Canon of St. Andrew of Crete, which is a dialogue of repentance between a Great Saint and his soul. On Friday, the parish celebrates the first Pre-Sanctified Liturgy, allowing us to be taken from the dust of the earth, and united to things Divine through the Holy Eucharist. Saturday and Sunday of the 1st week of Great Lent are then dedicated to Orthodoxy Sunday, where we remember the Triumph of Orthodoxy over all those who have sought to destroy the Church throughout the centuries!
